Good Deed Foundation is the only venture philanthropy organisation in the Baltics. We’re concentrating on supporting high-impact social initiatives (both social enterprises and non-profits). Our achievements include both achieving systemic change (state-level adoption support system for children without parental care) and starting off succesful social enterprises (in the fields of: employment for people with disabilities; HIV-prevention; re-use).

The focus of Good Deed Foundation is our portfolio: projects and organisations that show the greatest potential to solve pressing problems in Estonian society. They come from two sources – some are established by us (e.g Youth to School program to solve educational problems, Health Estonia Foundation for HIV-prevention, Re-use Center to promote sustainable consumtion), others we find by regularly gauging the effectiveness of existing organisations (e.g SOS Kindergarten takes care children without parential care, Helping Hand finds employment for people with disabilities, You and Me Family Centre teaches healthy family relationships, Own Family supports adoptig processes).

Once we have determined the solutions with the greatest potential, we support their realisation and growth by means of both financial investment and professional consulting (e.g. volunteers from Swedbank, Hill & Knowlton, KPMG, Fontes). The driving idea behind the support is to create the greatest possible change in society. In order to build a base of future social entrepreneurs, we encourage the development of youths and spread the message of social entrepreneurship.

Field of social entrepreneurship

Currently we are involved as a partner and expert in creating a Advocacy Network for Social Entrepreneurship in Estonia. Projects aim is to establish a basis for clarifying the description of social entrepreneurship, the needs for its regulatory framework and further development, according to the needs of the network that will be established in the frame of the project. Project is managed by Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations (EMSL) ant it is funded by National Foundation of Civil Society. Read more about our aims here.
